METABOLIST SOFA UPHOLSTERED IN LEATHER

This three-seater sofa from the 1970s is reminiscent of the structural solutions of the new Scandinavian design championed by Arne Norell, although its proportions and the clean lines of its tensioned supports align it with the principles of Metabolism, or even place it squarely within that style. The legs and crossbars are made of jatoba, an exotic wood native to tropical America, very hard (5.6 on the Brinell scale) and highly prized by cabinetmakers and luthiers. The side and rear supports are finished in natural, undyed brown leather, while the upholstery is made of elegantly dark brown dyed leather.
