NEO-GOTHIC CHIMNEY MORILLO

In the mid-18th century, as a reaction against Neoclassical rigor, the first currents of Romanticism emerged, bringing with them a passion for the Middle Ages, not so much for aesthetic reasons but rather ideological ones, associating Gothic monuments with the creation of national identities. These andirons are a paradigmatic example of the so-called ' Gothick' style, made using a casting technique with dry silica sand, which allows for the casting of large pieces with complex geometries, dimensional precision, and an excellent surface finish.
