Fragment of hand-carved teak wood with polychrome decorations representing symbols and geometric ideograms of the Toraja culture, an aboriginal ethnic group located in the central mountains of Sulawesi, contacted from 1910 onwards. Specifically, it is a fragment of the polychrome facade of one of their enormous ancestral houses with canoe-shaped roofs, called tongkonan, which are the center of their community life.
