VICTORIAN CLOCHES AND VEGETABLE STORAGE

Silver-plated cloches and a vegetable tureen, made in England. The simpler cloche dates from around 1850 and adapts the influences of the Restoration style, which originated in France in previous decades, to English tastes. The other cloche and the matching vegetable tureen were made around 1880, displaying engravings of animal busts, in this case a wolf and an eagle, which varied according to the design and function of the piece. They are in excellent condition and have a patina appropriate to their age and use.
