Circular teak trays from Pontianak, one of the main cities on the island of Borneo. They were part of the household furnishings of an aristocratic Malay-Indonesian family. Hand-carved from high-quality teak wood, they are exceptionally durable thanks to a traditional drying process that required a long period of time and was guided by the lunar phases. They can be used as serving platters or as chargers for a contemporary table setting.
